“Earth Play’s mission is to share our passions of movement, love of nature and joy of serving and giving to others to promote conscious community, deep connection and stewardship to nature and compassion for all living beings.”
Earth Play Retreats is a new endeavor by acclaimed rock climber Heidi Wirtz and acro-yogini Yuki Tsuji-Hoening. This duo of active and inspiring ladies–who both reside in the mindful metropolis of Boulder, CO- decided to team up to create retreats which challenge the body, train the mind and revive the soul. By joining outdoor activities like rock-climbing and hiking with ancient traditions of meditation, Qi-Gong, dream-tending, and yoga, Earth Play Retreats encourages participants to push their limits, ground themselves in nature’s grace and abundance, and return to everyday life with a renewed sense of self.
Earth Play Retreats launched this summer with an excursion at Wanderlust Festival and a Rock Climbing and Acro-Yoga one-day retreat in Boulder. Both activities push us out of our comfort zones and help build trust, community and faith in our own capabilities. Pursuing these kinds of activities in stunning natural settings inspires awe at the grandeur of our Earth and humility at our place in it. This encourages stewardship and a deeper connection to nature. This week, Earth Play heads out of Colorado for the first time, to Utah for Rock Climbing and Yoga in Indian Creek. The 2014 retreat schedule
includes frequent one-day and weekend retreats in Colorado, Utah amd California, as well as retreats to far-flung locales such as Greece, Brazil and Morocco. Earth Play is committed to keeping their retreats affordable, and hope to have a scholarship program available in the future. Gear rentals are always available and reasonably priced, so don’t fret if you’re not fully equipped.
Indian Creek, Utah
The Indian Creek retreat will focus on crack climbing, crack technique, gear placement, daily yoga, eating well and connecting with nature and each other. World-class climbing instruction from the pros will be supplemented with mindfulness, breathing and meditation techniques–as useful off the rock as on it. The evenings will offer Acro-Yoga and therapeutic Thai Massage, with the opportunity to give and receive, to connect with others and to relax after a day on the rock. All this, plus healthy food prepared by a professional chef, campfire Happy Hours and inspiring opening and closing ceremonies.
