Futuristic Curves – 3D printed clothing
13,000 Swarovski crystals, black mesh, and the voluptuous Dita Von Teese are just some of the fierce components that make up the world’s first Fully-Articulated 3-D Printed Gown. Yeah that’s right, this bad boy is made from 17 different nylon pieces produced by Shapeways, printed from a 3-D printer, and then adorned with Swaroski crystals. The design helps accentuate the curves of any woman. Finally!
First, to understand the importance of the dress you must understand the printer. The 3-D printer is a ground breaking invention that takes any digital design and makes it into a three dimensional solid object. Designers Michael Schmidt and Francis Bitonti have grasped the importance of this futuristic invention and used it to their advantage to create one hell of a gown! Get ready ladies, the 3-D printer will be used to create more materials for clothing that will be seen on the catwalk and eventually in your closet.
