Mobb Deep – 20th Anniversary Tour
We headed up to Aspen to see Mobb Deep at the Belly Up Aspen last weekend. “I’ve been listening since high school and we used to play their cd’s in the weight room in college for lacrosse. I’ve got every damn album ever made, tossed their tracks on the radio show, and have them on my phone……so the quiet storm is always brewing round this kid,” straight from Hunt’s mouth about The Infamous Mobb Deep. We’ve been waiting to hear the new album from Havoc “13” and have been chomping at the bit to see them live for the 20th anniversary tour.
Prodigy and Havoc have been on the road for a minute. They hit Denver at Cervantes on Friday and then high tailed it up to the mountains for the Aspen show. We had GGFam at the show Friday in Denver and after we saw the footage……we were beyond stoked to see them in a little place called……Aspen. The locals (Izm White, Dtale, and Creepy Loc = RKF) opened the show and the crowd poured in for the evening of hip hop. Belly Up, Aspen was just recently rated in the top 10 venues of the US from Rolling Stone magazine and is our home venue since the start of GG.
The set from the infamous was one of the best we’ve heard in 2013. They brought the old soul with tracks from Hell on Earth, The Infamous, and even brought out the blue lit stage for “Quiet Storm”……..something we hear in the GG HQ often from Hunt’s office. The off season was no issue for bringing the heads out to this show. It was a truly amazing and an unforgettable evening with Mobb Deep. We will never forget them bringing a local on stage to film them speaking to “the crews that didn’t come, them fools that wouldn’t fuck with us, and all them haters that said ‘nah nigga not this time’ we got something to say to you……FUCK Y’ALL NIGGAS!!!” The venue exploded and the Mobb erupted on stage. People dancing, everyone singing along, and the Belly Up was bumping for the 20th anniversary!!!!
Here’s one from Havoc’s new ablum “13”
Prodigy bringing that real talk as always…
