Lightning in a Bottle set to Explode!
Nestled between Los Angeles and San Diego, Lake Skinner in Temecula, California is set to become a bustling metropolis of its own for the weekend of July 11th-15th. That weekend The Do LaB’s renowed festival Lightning in a Bottle will fill the area with interactive art installations, a bustling village of creative participants, an entire temple dedicated to the spread of knowledge, oh— and a boatload of incredible music.
The Do Lab, based out of LA, is a production company known for their impressive stages and installations at Coachella, and for their own impressive events. The Do LaB’s mission is to “create experience as art and bring communities together”. LIB is one of California’s premier festivals, and is widely recognized and popular within the transformational festival culture.
One thing The Do LaB is known for is creating otherworldly environments and atmospheres conducive to play, expression, and learning. This year’s relocation to Lake Skinner promises an inviting natural environment in which magic is certain to unfold. A vast number of interactive areas will offer everything from Tea service to circus arts and participants can explore an array of lounges, cafes, and workshop spaces. Installation art will adorn all nooks and crannies of the grounds, and greening efforts abound to keep the space sacred and splendid. What’s more, LIB’s community goes beyond Leave No Trace, and works hard to instill a sense of responsibility in every member or the tribe. 4Pieces would be proud of the following statement emblazoned on the festival’s camping page:
“We create a community together and we set ourselves apart by working with you and not for you. We all have to take responsibility for ourselves and our community which means learning and living by our ‘Leave it Better, Leave it Beautiful’ policy”
Following up our attendance at Sonic Bloom and Wanderlust with LIB, Guru Gatsby is excited to keep the summer of transformation rolling with all the enlightening offerings of the Lucent Temple of Consciousness. There will be speakers talking on subjects ranging from quantam phyiscs to sustainability, global economics to personal finance, and from indigenous culture to digital art. Plus loads of yoga and movement offerings including hooping workshops, belly dancing, and even slackline yoga with the YogaSlackers! Sound healing circles, reiki jams and more bodywork opportunities will keep participants flowing and feeling good….all the more energized for hands-on skills building in glass-blowing, basket weaving, body painting, and more. Just a few of the workshop titles we’re excited about include: “Essential Oil Wizardry”, “Social Permaculture – Redesigning Civilization”, “Lightning in a Blender”, “Partner Massage”, “Sacred Sexuality”, “Kundalini & Ascension”, “Shift Your Shit “Around Money”, and “Conscious Design of Permaculture”.
Finally, of course, there is the unifying factor. That invisible gift that transcends the physical and the spiritual realms, the beat of the drum that calls the tribe together. The MUSIC. As one of the US’ premier festivals, LIB never disappoints with its bass-heavy but diverse line-ups. This year’s headliners include downtempo master Tycho, the ever-innovative Nicolas Jaar, and Canadian future bass duo Purity Ring. The event will also feature spectaculars presented by the likes of the Lucent Dossier Experience and William Close and the Earth Harp. There will be dance-floor banging big names like GriZ and heRobust, The Polish Ambassador and Rusko. Random Rab, Desert Dwellers, Kayla Scintilla, and Kaminanda balance the offerings with incredibly attuned music meant for transformation. Papadosio will profer their live-tronic alchemy, and we can’t help but anticipate sets from Andreilien, ESKMO, PhuturePrimitive and Denver homegirl ill-esha. Check out the full line-up for all of the amazing music!
