Wakarusa 10th Anniversary
What a special year to spend at Wakrusa, in the beautiful Mulberry Mountains in Ozark, Arkansas. Wakarusa celebrated it’s 10th anniversary this year. The festival grounds were full of excited, beautiful, and passionate souls. Everyone you met there had something to share or say about what a wonderful festival Wakarusa has been for years. For many people it was not there first time, There’s a reason why Wakarusa is growing in ticket sells and reputation.
Boy oh boy did mother nature test its attendees though. The first day of the festival started off with showers and lighting storms. Some music got turned off Thursday night due to weather. Because of the rain the festival started to a straight up mud fest. It defiantly added an element to the experience that was not expected. Depending on where you where camping it could take up to 30 – 40 minutes to a walk to one stage. Because many people did not anticipate on there being so much rain and mud, they either lost sandals to mud or simply decided to go bare foot, which led to slow walking the entire weekend. After all that, it was amazing how it brought the festival together for a fun experience. Saturday night was the biggest bummer of the weekend. Music got canceled around midnight because within two hours there was weather reports of heavy rain, possible hail, 15-20 mile per hour winds, thunder and lighting. The crowd was upset to miss STS9, Galactic, and Shpongle. Many tents were taken off the ground and flown over cars with many other personal possessions ruined. The rest of the weekend was beautiful and full of high spirits!
Shout out to Tipper!
Tipper played his last set at Wakarusa before he had open heart surgery. Here’s a link to his Dusty Bubble Box EP to help him pay for surgery, if you can donate. And here’s a link to all of Dream Au Revoir’s photos from Wakarsua here!
