Portugal. The Man – July 4th – Aspen
Fresh off the release of their seventh full-length studio album, Portugal. The Man is coming to Belly Up in Aspen next Thursday for the 4th of July!
Produced and polished by Danger Mouse (who has worked with everyone from MF Doom, to the Black Keys, to the Gorillaz), the new album, Evil Friends, draws a huge portion of its inspiration from the classic album by Pink Floyd – The Dark Side of the Moon. Their long-standing established audience may be surprised to hear a sound that’s a little different from their usual psychedelic experimentalism – this album contains a solid, more widely-accessible pop feeling – but that’s not a bad thing. Fans can still count on the soaring falsettos, sharp rhythms and perfect harmonies that they’ve come to expect from PTM.
Even after their album dropped June 4th, The Man hasn’t stopped. They’ve been booked on almost every late night talk show, and launched a new tour just three days after the album was released. Their tour has taken them all over the US, including a stop at Bonnaroo, three stops in Colorado (Telluride, Red Rocks and Belly Up), and will also take them overseas to Europe, Japan and Australia. Grimey Gatsby & Hunt will be attending the show at Belly Up and bringing you a full report on what promises to be a new, yet still incredible, show from Portugal. The Man.
