Arise to a Green Future

Grimey Gatsby is teaming up as a media partner with the upcoming Arise Festival in Loveland, Colorado and we want to take a moment to profile the greening efforts made by the producers of this event which will help it model a more sustainable future! With 4Pieces we aim to show everyone the impact they can have with even a small, habitual action.  In the case of a festival, we all get the chance to make our impact by leaving no trace!

Read Up on Arise’s Greening Efforts

Colorado based company Zero Hero, one of the leaders in event greening, will be handling the waste management at the festival, including separated waste receptacles that make discarding your 4Pieces a breeze.  Speaking of 4Pieces, we love the focus on Upcycling at Arise.  Lots of the installation art will feature upcycled materials, and there is even a green challenge that encourages resourcefulness and upcycling.   The festival is offering a VIP upgrade each day for four people (4) in each camp that the Arise team feels have incorporated the most green tactics. Show your thrift-store prowess and upcycling skills and win!  Don’t forget to snap a pic as well and post it to the 4Pieces instagram!

Arise has put lots of thought into greening the entire festival experience.  All printed promotional materials were done with soy-based inks and recycled paper, and lots of online marketing has lowered the need for printed materials over all.  Aiming for a low impact on the environment and a large impact on their audience has paid off!  Not to mention the local and organic food vendors and  the local beer and wines featured in the Beer Garden…Colorado proud! Another note of Colorado pride?  The Hemp Village, which will focus on the myriad uses for industrial hemp…now legal to grow in Colorado!

Arise is also a Leave No Trace event.  For more on LNT, check out Grimey Gatsby’s feature on this community principle.  And while you ought not leave a trace, you can certainly leave your mark, thanks to the incredible opportunity to get involved with an enormous participatory art installation.  Aerial Artist John Quigley of Spectral Q will be creating a giant Human Sculpture  of ARISE inside the Sun with 500 people near the main stage on Saturday August 17th at 10 am
