The Colorado State Fair!!!!
For over 100 years now, the Colorado State Fair has earned the title of top summer event in Colorado. It returns again this year to Pueblo, Colorado from August 23rd until September 2nd. If you’ve got the time for one last weekend out of town this summer, the state fair in Pueblo is a 2 to 3 hour drive from the Denver metro area and fun for everyone.
This year, there is a special emphasis on locally grown and produced products. The Fair in Pueblo has a new “Colorado Proud” store, where visitors can shop for celebrate food and agricultural products that are grown, raised or processed in Colorado. However, not everything at the fair is new. Friday night marks the return of an annual political tradition, the Pueblo Chamber of Commerce barbecue. Gov. John Hickenlooper will be there, along with many members of Congress and aspiring officeholders. There will also, of course, be your standard funnel cakes and everything deep-fried and fabulous, the infamous “Sink a Ping Pong Ball, Win a Goldfish” style of game booths, rides for all ages and bravery levels, animals, live music, and so much more.
Some of the concerts include: Ram Rodeo with Randy Houser on Aug. 23, Little Big Town with Dustin Lynch Aug. 29, and Lynyrd Skynyrd Aug. 31. Tickets can be purchased on the State Fair’s website. Events for the kiddos include the carnival, which runs every day, and parades. Another must see is the monster truck show.
We’ve got a quick fair information run-down for you below – for more complete details, as well as a full list of events, directions, and more, visit the State Fair’s website.
