The Larry Levan Festival for Red Bull
New York City’s Paradise Garage is one of the most important dance clubs in the history of dance clubs. From 1977 to 1987, the famous club on King Street was where people flocked to see the late DJ Larry Levan’s legendary “Saturday Mass” residencies.
On Saturday, as part of Red Bull Music Academy Festival New York, King Street became Larry Levan Way as thousands of people came to pay tribute to Levan. There was music — of course there was music! — with performances by Paradise vets François K., David DePino, Joey Llanos and Jocelyn Brown. It was an awesome party — here are some photos.
