Pura Vida Bracelets
Recently I was introduced to a new collection of handmade jewelry from Costa Rica that really grabbed my intention. Unlike other handmade jewelers out there, Pura Vida instantly struck me because of what the bracelets represent. The story of Pura Vida starts out with two friends from Southern California taking a college graduation trip to Costa Rica! The simple Pura Vida lifestyle was breathtaking to the two friends, and they knew they had to find a way to share it. The colorful bracelets summed up perfectly everything that the two friends had experienced on their trip, from the sunsets to the overall essence of the journey. During their visit the two friends crossed paths with two men, Joaquin and Jorge, who were at the time selling the bracelets on the street. The friends asked the men if they would be interested in making bracelets for them to take back to California, and that is how it all began! When the friends returned to California they started to sell the bracelets out of a bowl at a local shop close to their home. Before they knew it they had completely sold out of all the bracelets that Joaquin and Jorge had given them, and people were asking for more. Everyone started to realize that these bracelets were not only beautiful to look at but were beautiful for the soul. “Pura Vida” means pure life in Spanish, it represents the simple things like enjoying life slowly, celebrating good fortune and not taking anything for granted. If you would like to represent the attitude of the Pura Vida lifestyle, log on to Pura Vida Bracelets and enter the code BURDEN10 at checkout to receive an extra 10% off.
Each bracelet is unique in its own way, being that they are all handmade, no bracelet is the same color as another, and there are no two exactly alike. Pura Vida does more then just provide jobs for artisans in Costa Rica, the Charity Collection was created to give back to charities all over the world. Pura Vida is a 1% for the planet member donating back to over forty 1% for the Planet non-profit partners through their Enviro-Causes Charity Collection.
