Bonobo – recap
“Say, what?! You get to go to Bonobo tonight?! I helped set up the lights for that show, it’s going to be awesome!” That’s what I heard when I walked into my first destination, The Classic, an art and fashion show hosted by Denver’s Green Labs. I love the people of this city, so welcoming.
I got to check out just two of the numerous events taking place in glorious Denver, CO. I walked into the packed venue and I spotted my friends right away. The Ogden was poppin’ and people were having fun! I was ready to dance. Bonobo performed a DJ set which I was excited for because those sets remind me of home (Detroit, MI). Bonobo played an underground house set. There were times where I felt like I was dancing in the middle of a safari and there were times where I felt like I was just floating on a cloud, the music was so beautiful. The bass was plentiful allowing each track to flow right into the next. I could hear the European EDM twist in Bonobo’s music. It seemed as though he incorporated sounds from all over the world into his set. We even got a new track that he had been working on while on the road. “Denver, you are the first to hear this!” I remember him saying.
Simon Green (Bonobo) is considered to be one of the most powerful electronic music artists to currently exist. With ten years of hard work under his belt, Simon was not about to disappoint the fans of Denver. He interacted with the crowd well, which was proven by the numerous cheers and rounds of applause throughout his set. Not only are Simon’s DJ sets off the hook, but he is also touring internationally with his live band. I could only imagine how awesome that would be to witness. Meow. Bonobo’s hard work and dedication radiate through his music, that’s no lie. Check out the footage we captured from the show played at the Ogden Theatre in Denver played on October 17th 2014.
