Downtown Throwdown – Libtech recap
Clam chowder, baked beans, the tea party, and Mark Wahlberg.Yes I’m talking about Boston.Where last Saturday October 18, 2014 we can also add to that list, Lib techs 8th annual downtown throwdown, held at the city hall plaza. This is one of the biggest snowboarding jam competition in North America!
A few local amateurs and about 30 professional snowboarders will battle it out in a jam Style competition for a total of 20,000 in cash prize. For the first round 16 local amateurs will try and advance to the second round, where they will compete against the pros.Am’s pushing limits, taking hard slams trying to out swag the other riders to advance. After the first wild card round.,only 3 ended up making it to the next round. Those 3 that were killing it and advancing to next round were:
Parker Szumowski,Tim Major, and Shaun Murphy. From here they will compete against the pros.
Next up was the 2nd round.Competition was heavy and riders maxed out their skills. But of course there can only be 5 winners for the competition in Beantown.Winners podium was looking like 1st place was taken by: Ryan Paul
Smashed it winning 8 Grand.2nd place: was Jesse Paul winning 5 Grand.3rd place: Ted Borland winning 3 Grand.4th place: Dilon Ojo winning 2 Grand.5th place: Brandon Reis winning 1 Grand.
Even if you did not compete in the downtown throwdown. That’s OK, cause there was plenty of activities for non competitors.Legend Jamie Lynn, Eric Jackson and Givin films Forest Bailey were there signing autographs.Plenty of major companies and sponsors to help fuel this competition, Eastern boarder and lib tech raffling of boards and throwing out free gear, also snowboarder.com,loon mtn,Adidas snowboarding, windells camp, diecutsticker.com.This event was also the perfect time for you to get pumped for the 2014/2015 snowboard season!Next year, or in the near future I would love to see this come to Denver, Colorado!
