Hot Dogs & Hand Rails – Bear, California
California sun, tons of snow, hot dogs and snowboarding! What more could anyone else ask for? Well this past weekend September 27th 2014 was the 11th annual HDHR. What is HDHR you ask? Hot Dawgs & Hand Rails…It’s only one of the biggest snowboard competition in North America! It’s held in southern California at Bear mountain. This event brings pro snowboarders and amateur ragers from all over the world, but only 40 pros will compete in this rail jam for $10,000. All your favorite snowboard companies were posted up at this event with their booths full of goodies. Plenty of contests to win some free product and bragging rights. This was also a great time to grab that Bear Mtn season pass at a huge discount! And to also to celebrate the kick off for the 2014-2015 snowboard season!
Competition always makes for an exciting atmosphere and the course looked pretty gnarly and the riders definitely pushed their limits. But there had to be a winner in this battle royale and that was Johnny O’Connor. He took 1st snagging that 10 Grand. Runner up was Denis Leontyev and 3rd place was Luke Haddock. Can’t wait to see what next year brings. This competition is definitely one to check out,and next year I have to make it out to personally cover this event. But for now watch the videos below and pretend you were there!
