Snoop’s Youth Football League is coming to Denver!!!

We were speaking with the great people at Snoop’s Youth Football League this past week and they have announced their expansion to Denver. They boost a great alumni from the Division I NCAA ranks to the NFL and also have a focus on academics for their players. SYFL also has a massive marker in California with traveling all star teams. We caught up with the President of Colorado, Noah Justice, to talk over some of the benefits that he has seen from the California league, the expansion to Colorado, and what he feels will be the future of the sport on the top tier level. “We have the best facility in the state for our people, some of the professionals have voiced their involvement, the coaches are really excited to get things going, and all of us see a great season ahead with the direct improvement in the streets, field, and classroom for our players,” he said. The SYFL will have 4 age groups with 10 teams each featuring a roster of 20-22 players. They focus on academics through the coaching staff overseeing the report cards and grades of every player and then follow through on the field with sportsmanship and teamwork. “The California league is a true statement to what we hope to do here in Colorado. They have players in all ranks of college and in the pros from their hard work, great grades, and talented coaching. That’s the goal for us here in Denver to do the same and see our players in the big league one day,” Noah stated.

The SYFL has some great partners in their ranks from Adidas uniforms with the NFL logo usage to SmartWater all as official sponsors. The players have custom team logo uniforms and the use of some of the best fields in the Denver area. It seems they are focused on the long term here in Denver along with having a 3.0 GPA carried through the school year to be eligible for the league. The alumni from the SYFL California league currently play at these colleges: Washington University, University of Colorado, UCLA, Cincinatti, USC, and feature current alumni on the Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs. We are excited to see the talent from the Colorado area and the great events ahead. The next big announcement in Denver will be when the league opens and the facilities they will be using. Word on the street is that they will have the same facility as some of the professional players in town.

From their website, “The Snoop Youth Football League was founded by entertainment icon, Snoop Dogg. The fall of 2005 was the inaugural season of the SYFL, and there were over 1,300 kids in the Los Angeles area that participated. The season began in September and included seven regular season games and a three week playoff, concluding with the “Super Bowl,” at the end of November. SYFL all-star teams were chosen and participants traveled to Houston, TX. In fact, each year an all-star team is selected to travel to another city to compete with children in other football leagues. In addition, this provided opportunities for many children to ride on an airplane, travel to states that they never dreamed of going, and play in the most prestigious stadiums in the United States.

Make sure to get over to the SYFL – Colorado website and get your player registered for this season. We will be following much of the season as our President, Hunt, has signed on to help the SYFL Colorado’s management and coach a team. We hope to see all our GGFam out for the league! If you have any questions you can message them on Facebook for a quick response and stay tuned to their website for all the updates. They will have a tent set up at the next Broncos home game outside the stadium for a “meet & great” with the organization. If you’re planning on coming to the game….please stop by.
