GRIMEY GATSBY STRAIN REVIEW #4 : TITAN OG “ICE WAX”
HASH OF THE TITANS
Strain: Titan OG
Strain Genetics: Unknown
Located: California Kindness (San Diego Delivery Service)
Brief: This product was made using only ice, water, and agitation…oh and the weed of course! Starting material is a big part of ice water extracts; this was processed from dry trim, but as you will see, it still turned out to be fantastic.
This sample is from the 45µ portion of the batch, with the exception of a few pix shown pressed out from the 73µ (3rd wash!!)
It looks like San Diego beach sand. The closer you look, though, the more translucent and alive each and every glandular grain appears. Under a standard fluorescent garage light, the stuff looks almost white.
The smell is very lemony, with a distinct hint of berries or fruit of some sort, with absolutely zero moist or sour aroma at all. It smells very well-cured, which may account for the fact that it will not necessarily blow your socks off when you open the jar. But once you stir it up a bit, and especially when you press it, that limonene/myrcene terp profile is released.
I’ve got to be honest, I am not totally decked out with all of the state of the art ice wax slab-dabbing screen and/or D-Nail tech…yet. So most of my consumption of this delicious hash was done over the top of equally amazing flowers. Still, it certainly added a piney/lemony burst to my Hazes and OGs.
I did hempwick quite a bit by itself over a screen, which was not my favorite method given my low-tech half-baked attempt. I also pressed some out for a couple of dabs off of the domeless. That also was not my preferred method mostly due to trying to guess the right temp on an old nail, and by how much hash was consumed on each try. The first hit was a bit too hot I think, leaving the flavor much more hashy and “toasted” than any of the flower-toppers. The 2nd hit was too cool and tasted fanfuckintastic but didn’t vaporize completely.
Buzz: 10/10 Body high, couch lock, creeper, strong
I am not sure of the exact genetics of this Titan OG strain that was used to create this ice wax, but it provided some of the heaviest indica effects that I have experienced in quite some time – be it dabs, flowers, or hash.
Not recommended for creativity, spontaneity, or energetic motivation, but like I said, indica-lovers can rejoice in this one and find plenty of medicinal benefits.
Night time meds, for me at least.
Buzz Length: 9/10 Long
Aside from the near-blackout rush that the heavily-dusted bowls of OG-on-OG action were delivering, the full effect of the hash really wasn’t felt until after I had put my stash up in the cabinet and left my cave to re-enter the real world.
Once it hit though, each time I was given about 90 minutes of blissful, complete pain relief before succumbing to a major case of the yawns, regardless of the time of day.
I really do enjoy and appreciate all forms of cannabis, and well-crafted ice water hash is the absolute best for many reasons. My friend @coldwaterextractions (on Instagram) who produced this hash has allowed me to sit in on his process before, and it is amazing to see the magic he can make with all sorts of starting material – this Titan OG being a prime example.
While hanging out with him from time to time, I do get to enjoy his ideal D-Nail temps and Quave Quartz Banger rips from his perfectly pressed patties of dank ice wax. He shows me how to meticulously prepare it, but I’ve found that his ice wax will press out merely with the heat of a thumb and slight pressure on the parchment. It greases up in the jar, even on this stuff that was born of dry trim instead of fresh frozen material.
But man I am old school and I love layering it in a bowl of high grade weed and burning it down with some I-tal Hempwicks!
Until next time, keep your lifestyle Grimey and your ice wax clean!
