Cypress Hill w/ Redman & Method Man – 4/19 – Recap
Redman, Method Man & Cypress hill gave Cervantes a 4/20 eve show to remember. Any time any member of Wu Tang comes to town, there’s no way I’m missing it – but this time it was my favorite member of Wu Tang – Method Man – along with Redman – AND Cypress Hill – AND on the eve of Colorado’s favorite holiday – 4/20.
Cervantes had certainly stepped up security in light of the holiday, but the venue was hazy throughout the night regardless. Redman & Method Man took the stage around 10ish – pretty early for what’s normal for them. Their energy and chemistry on stage together is unmistakable – whether rocking Redman songs, Method Man songs, or classic Wu joints – they flow together perfectly and bounce around stage with an amazing zest. And, play the classics they did – everything from Tical to You’re All I Need to How High, Shimmy Shimmy Ya by ODB, and of course, M-E-T-H-O-D Man. These two really killed it and ended their set by each doing their own stage dive.
Cypress came on right after midnight – when the room started to get really smokey. I was surprised to see that people seemed to be even more hyped for Cypress than Red & Meth! I’d never seen Cypress Hill before so I was super impressed with how well they performed their set – super fluid and on point, like the altitude didn’t bother them at all. I was also stoked to hear them play lots of old old old school stuff that I recognized from back in the day – Hits from the Bong, Here is Something You Can’t Understand – and so much more. They killed it! It was definitely the perfect show to bring in 4/20.
