Oddisee – Recap
On the eve of his surprise online release of his latest album, The Good Fight, Oddisee quietly arrived at Cervantes’ Other Side for a small yet stoked crowd on a Monday night.
The rapper — clad in Nikes, straight-legged black jeans and a plain gray t-shirt — had one question: “Is y’all ready to rock?” “Yep! We ready to roll!” the audience responded on cue, finishing the line. From there, he launched into an animated and flawless set of tracks from the new album mixed with old classics, from “That’s Love”, to “Another’s Grind” to ” Yeezus Was a Mortal Man”.
I love the persona that Oddisee is able to illustrate through his performances and raps – both on the record and live on stage. He pretty much tells it like it is – through his music. I just dig the honesty that he portrays. Although the set was short – only about an hour or so long – it was overall a super memorable performance. Oddisee brought much more energy than the tiny crowd at the Other Side was ready for – can’t wait to see him again.
You can purchase his new album, The Good Fight, online here – it drops in stores May 5th.
