Black Summer – Denver
Authentic musical vibes can be a boon of positive energy for any big city or large community. Fortunately for Denver, the upcoming Black Summer event will provide a great opportunity to showcase local talent and get the city in touch with its artistic heartbeat.
In the spirit of variety, almost two dozen artists will take the stage this Thursday, August 27th when The Bluebird Theater goes #black.
“There are all these diverse aspects of hip-hop here, and I’m trying to represent that across the board,” said Ru Johnson, of Roux Black Marketing and one of the event’s primary promoters, in an interview Reverb.
Six artist sets include Sur Ellz, Emma Mayes, Ray Reed, C.Mays, Ross Pennock, and Kontrast & Fo’Chief. A healthy selection of performances via DJ / producers as well as ciphers is slated as well.
“No corporations, no gimmicks, just good music,” is the promise from Johnson, a musician in her own right. With sponsorship from Doctors Orders Dispensary, the Black Summer showcase helps to illustrate the natural bonds between organic music culture and the evolving legalization policy in Colorado.
