Vans Warped Tour – Denver recap
Choonimals and Dude it’s Damsel invited us to the Vans Warped Tour in Denver this past weekend and it was a time to party with the GGFam!!!!
We eagerly arrived to the Pepsi Center in downtown Denver and stood in the line for the guest list to receive our press pass so we could get the ball rolling. Thanks again Choonimals for the hookup! Now that we have a media pass slapped on our wrist we headed over to the Choonimals booth to meet up with the squad and see whats good with the GGfam. Also had thank them for the opportunity to cover the event. We talked a little about the company and how it was started and how many years it had been going. They have been around for a solid 8 years and running. That’s pretty damn good if you ask us! And their art was featured all over Warped Tour on the stages and signage. Had to scoop a few things ourselves for the wardrobe. And we noticed the consumer was drawn to the Choonimals tent also as the shirts, tank tops, and crew necks flew outta the booth like hot cakes! We saw tons of their gear all over the event all day.
After cooling with the squad for a bit, it was time to start checking out the different stages for some live music. First stage we had to check out was the Beatport stage to see Le Castle Vania. Never seen him before, but he rocked the stage and we would definitely see him again. Second stage we had to check out was the Monster stage to see Silverstein. We started listening to in them 2005 along with many other similar sounds. They played songs like “smile in your sleep, smashed into pieces and my herione.” This was awesome live and such an amazing experience. We were content with the Monster stage for now. Next up was off to the journeys left stage to see The White Russell Simmons aka Jody High Roller aka Riff Raff. This was our favorite act of the whole tour…..hands down! All though we had a media pass the Argus Security told us we couldn’t get on stage for exclusive pictures due to crazy fans in the past being tackled off the stage (saw this video before warp tour) by Riff Raff’s body guard. This still didn’t stop me from trying again. I tried the old flank move and went to the other side but was still denied. We had to settle for pics from the crowd. Which wasn’t a bad thing cause Riff Raff usually puts on a great show. After Riffs set it was time to meet with the homie Smokey Bare over at the Trojan tent to chill and get medicated. Smokey is a local Denver hip hop artists and he has a few shows coming up that we will be covering, like this coming Sunday the homie is playing with Berner at Cervantes. Now it was time to check out August Burns Red at the Shark stage. A metal core band formed out of Pennsylvania. We caught this band a Couple years back at Warp Tour in Pittsburg. Now it was time to head over to the Ernie ball stage to check out long time favorite pop punk band Boy Meets World. One of the better pop punk bands of today. They played their more popular songs songs like “right where we belong and best you ever had.” Now it was time to head to the Unicorn stage to check out Pvris. Never heard of this band before but the Choonimals booth gave this band as a recommendation so we had to check it out! We stopped at the Monster stage one last time to check out While She Sleeps. Man these dudes were awesome! First time seeing them and they killed it. And last but not least we had to head back over to the Shark stage to catch our last act of the night before heading out. We stopped to hear the band Asking Alexandria. We have seen them one other time at Warp Tour and they never seemed to disappoint the crowd.
Well that was a one of the best events to cover to end out the summer with a bang! Had an amazing time hanging with the Choonimals and Dude its Damsel! Big ups and thanks again for the pass, the threads, and recommendations for bands! Much appreciated and hope to join ya again soon!
