Halloween Town comes to the Hollywood
October 1993 is the year we were first introduced to Jack Skellington, Sally the rag doll, and one of the most memorable Halloween and Christmas movies ever to be made. Not to mention, this was all done entirely in stop motion animation, completely blowing the minds of all who saw this film. This film resonates with most all who see it. 22 years later, somewhere right now, there is probably a tattoo artist hard at work on someone’s full sleeve in the theme of “Oogie Boogie.”
Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” will always be a ride your brain does not want off of. The detail, the story, the jokes, it truly is a bright tale amongst such typical Burton “darkness.”
What also makes this movie so memorable is the music.
Danny Elfman, genius composer behind the film’s music, the performer of Jack Skellington’s singing voice in the film, and of course, member of the new wave and theatrical group Oingo Boingo will be taking us to Halloween Town again this year, on November 1, 2015 at the Hollywood Bowl.
The venue will be completely transformed, and guests are being encouraged to put together their most “Tim Burton Inspired” costumes for the event. There will be surprise and special pre-show happenings, including an audience costume contest!
Danny Elfman will be performing Skellington’s songs live and also will be joined by a full choir and orchestra, conducted by Maestro John Mauceri, while the film plays on screen.
The costume contest will be at 5pm, with the film screening and show starting at 6:30pm at The Hollywood Bowl, or Halloween Town, as it will be known that night.
This event is on November 1, so it should not even interfere with whatever wild October 31st plans that are being held.
Sleep in, then enjoy watching one of the most talented composers and theatrical performers of the last 30 years. Everyone wins!
The Hollywood Bowl is located at:
2301 N. Highland Ave, Hollywood, Ca 90068
Tickets range from $55.00-75.00
There are different shuttles and ways to get there much easier than the parking they provide.
GET THERE EARLY!
