Calm before the storm
With the population of Aspen about to explode, Ben Moscona, Austin Johnson and I rallied out to Marble for some relaxing cold smoke before the chaos of winter break ensues. The drive brought us south on highway 133 through the gorgeous Crystal River Valley. Passing through the quaint town of Marble doesn’t take long, and with a population of 133 there’s not much going on out there. After a few miles up the historic, snow-covered Marble Quarry Road, we hit the skin track. Three days after the latest storm cycle deposited up to 18 inches in parts of the zone, our crew found bottomless turns in Marble Bowl. Perfect way to spend our last free day until January.
Switchbacking our way towards Marble Bowl.
The higher we got, the deeper the snowpack became.
Towards the end of the day our crew found a pillow zone nestled in the pines.
