Backcountry silence from the city
X-games is a rowdy time of year in Aspen, CO. Tens of thousands of people flock to town for a week of extreme sports action, exclusive parties and maybe some skiing and riding. Definitely an awesome time to be here.
Personally, having engaged in the X-games festivities for years, when the X-games roll around I try to get the hell out of dodge. The sheer number of people in our small mountain town can be overwhelming.
As the masses stream into Aspen, we slipped out the back door. Green-Wilson and Taggert huts sit just a little over 5 miles south of Ashcroft in the shadow of Castle Peak. So as the madness ensues, we seek solace in the woods.
