March Pow at Beaver Creek
Some days when you wake up early in the morning to go snowboarding you automatically check the weather to see which resort got the most snow. We call this powder chasing, or the people that do it might be referred to as powder hounds. Well the word on the the streets for March 11, 2016 was that Beaver Creek had all that white powdery goodness this week. A whopping 10 inches! So another local and I from Denver hit the road and headed to Avon, Co.
When we arrived we were surprised to see that everyone else had the same idea because the parking lots were full. Didn’t get to park in our favorite parking lot (the wolf parking lot), but settled for the Elk parking lot instead. We like parking there because when you are finished for the day and on the bus ready to leave, it’s the first parking lot the bus stops from village. It was time to gear up and hit the slopes. The groomers were pretty skied out for the most part because of the amount of people there so we stuck to the barely touched stuff, like the double blacks off of Grouse mountain express and super secret pow stash spots tucked up under the trees. And when i say “pow stash” i mean literally shoulder deep pow! What an incredible day in Avon, Co at Beaver Creek resort!
