The Secret Sesh Leaves Denver More Than a Mile High

This past Thursday, on April 21, the Grimey Gatsby acted as the production team for the triumphant return of The Secret Sesh to Colorado. The long-anticipated event, held in honor of the 4/20 holiday, was a massive success in every way. As a writer covering an event where I have an obvious personal interest, I’m aware that readers are likely to question my ability to remain impartial. However, although I have associations with both Grimey Gatsby, The Secret Sesh and I may be writing from an inside (and admittedly biased) perspective, nobody has to take my word alone. Because the collective opinion of nearly 1,000 attendees, sponsors and the team itself seems to be that the event was one of the best they’ve ever experienced – and approval on that scale simply cannot be faked.

The gathering in downtown Denver marked the second appearance by The Secret Sesh in Colorado and it would be difficult to ask for a better outcome. When I say that the production team from Grimey Gatsby – particularly their leader, Hunt – executed the event flawlessly, I exaggerate not. The venue they booked was amazing. It comfortably accommodated the staff, sponsors and many attendees and they processed the guest list in exactly the way the L.A. team has established – both factors that make entry to the event as convenient as possible. The Secret Sesh prides itself on providing like-minded people with a great experience and does so by accommodating their guests in every foreseeable way. The local crew nailed this aspect as well by taking great care to book reputable sponsors and ensuring that attendees were comfortable by arranging for ample seating and tables. As someone who has been around since the event’s inception, I’ve witnessed the trial and error process that has led them to become the well-oiled machine that they are now. It was clear to me that the Gatsby crew truly upheld the very “high” standards that the Sesh holds themselves to and it was even more impressive that they did so the very first time they were involved.

The evening began with guests from the sold out VIP list entering the venue an hour early, allowing them to pick up gift bags at their leisure (the contents of which easily exceeded the cost of a VIP “ticket”). And over the course of the next 4-5 hours, all were entertained by the antics of cannabis host and personality, Adam Ill. A Scavenger Hunt list was offered to anyone who wished to play and volunteers were selected to come to the stage and win prizes by participating in games such as a Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament, a Joint-Rolling Contest (sponsored by Raw and Dank by Pank), Freeze Dance, a Stoned Sweets Edible Eating Competition and the now-infamous Flip and Rip Challenge. There were also 26 rigs from sponsor Black Sheep Glass given out and one brave man even came onstage to take a 2 gram glob. The staff of both The Secret Sesh and Grimey Gatsby had an amazing time with the citizens of Colorado as well as the many out-of-staters from all over the U.S. who travelled to join them – and from the overwhelmingly positive feedback they’ve received, it seems as if everyone who was present enjoyed themselves just as much.

Two events. Two states. Four days. That was the life of a Secret Sesh employee last week and it might have been enough to break a weaker crew down. Fortunately¬†that’s not the case with this team. These guys know what they’re doing, love to do it and were strengthened even further by the addition of the amazing people from Grimey Gatsby. Everyone involved has expressed their extreme thanks to the sponsors and attendees who came out for the event and their appreciation for all the love they received in Denver. As of right now, they’re actually working on logistics to bring The Secret Sesh to Colorado at least once a month. So stay tuned for details, because it appears that in the Mile High… #OnThursdaysWeSesh!
