#BlackSpring – 5/7/16
Roux Black Presents: #BlackSpring is the continuation of the creative consulting firm’s seasonal concert series. Last year’s #BlackSummer inaugural show highlighted some of the hottest independent artists in the city in a showcase curated by Ru Johnson and broadened the scope on the local music scene. Taking place on May 7, 2016 at The Bluebird Theater in Denver.
This next concert inception will highlight the work of photographer Glenn Ross and feature portraits of some of the Roux Black team’s favorite adult “May Babies” (influencers, performers and other artisans in the music scene,). On May 7th, 2016, photography, music and the dynamism of five epic performers and two deejays, all born in the month of May combine for #BlackSpring.
Glenn Ross and Ru Johnson connected over a need for head shots for Johnson’s professional use. As it turned out, the magic b was able to create behind the lens made for a reflective and thoughtful series that was will be even more dynamic in gallery form.
The “May Babies” exhibit is an additional pop up aspect to the photo gallery and will take over the second floor of The Bluebird Theater. Acclaimed videographer and photographer Jeremy Pape of Collective Culture will shoot the portraits, telling each artisans story.
The performers are an eclectic group, with Tronczarmee being a soulful, bohemian and Panama Soweto both progressive and the best parts of golden-era hip-hop. Jewel Cameron will take on the persona of his west coast influences and natural appeal on stage, while Ramond will give you a glimpse at what hip-hop will sound like in the future.
Amanda Hawkins is one of Denver’s most incredible singers and songwriters. After a brief hiatus and introduction to motherhood, she’s ready to take the stage, and the crowd by storm.
