Mad Professor – Recap
Talk about an excellent night of original Dub and old school dancehall reggae! If you missed the Mad Professor last week at Cervantes masterpiece ballroom we really feel bad for you because you missed a proper night. Mad Professor one of the leading producers of dub music’s second generation and was instrumental in transitioning dub into the digital. He has really made a name for himself over the years with collaborations from Lee “Scratch” Perry, Jay Shaka, Pato Banton and many others. The crowd at Cervantes really doesn’t know how good they had it that night.
The night started out with some chill vibes from the dj that had his gear setup to the side of the stage. He played lots of dancehall and some chill dub which was just what the crowd needed to pump up the energy For the Dub man himself. With a brief soundcheck from the sound guy and a sound check from Mad Professor it was time to get down to the funky dubby vibes! You already know how the tribe gets down and you best believe this was a cloudy night with rasta clouds handing low. At one point in the show the Professor brought up a dude from the crowd and did a dub remix of his name. This guy came baring gifts and by gifts i mean a Xl joint he had blazing when he jumped up on stage. They stood there and chiefed on it for a minute and then they got busy with the remix. You could tell the dude from the audience could now die a happy man, we were stoked for him as we all watched this all unfold behind Mad Professors huge mixing board. The highlight of our night though was when Mad professor dropped infamous track titled “warrior style.” Best track of all time hands down!
We hope to see him in the near future back in Denver rocking the crowd with them heavy dubby baselines. Denver and Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom thank you for another amazing event and night in the mile high city!
