If you missed N9ne Fest this past weekend, you truly missed out on something magical! Festival season has officially arrived, and the weather is starting to match our good vibes. On September 23rd, at first we were a bit concerned about the concert, when rain had sprinkled down earlier that afternoon, but it cleared up as soon as it showered the plants with a little gulp of water. Relentless Beats and The Slaughterhouse brought in a large crowd this year, filled with fans anticipating a night full of fun, and that’s just what they got! The lineup included talented artists such as Kayzo, Marshmello, Slushii, Logan Bohbot, and George Garcia!
As we made our way to the photo pit, to capture and bring you the best footage for these recaps, we realized that the DJ booth was so close to the edge of the stage, that it was sometimes hard for us to see the artists at that angle. While it was a bit challenging for us, the fans on the other hand felt right as if they were face to face with the artists…because they basically were!
Right off the bat, Kayzo took the stage, and opened the show with immense force, making the crowd go crazy! One fan referred to him as a, “fucking mastermind” and he sure lives up to his name. Up next, Marshmello was such an extraordinary artist that really stole the show that night. Playing hits like, “So Long” and their new collaboration, “Closer” with The Chainsmokers were making fans dance and sing along like undomesticated savages. Slushii then hit the stage for a bit, and he was killing it, until suddenly, two worlds collided when something special happened that surprised everyone!
As soon as Slushii started mixing, “Hood Goes Crazy”, Tech N9ne came out for a special appearance, to collaborate together with Slushii! It was unreal, as everyone’s jaws dropped with excitement! We have mad respect for Tech N9ne to drop in for N9ne Fest, before he was scheduled to perform at another venue that evening. Logan Bohbot and George Garcia were also sensational as they played to the crowd. As Logan is also currently a UofA student, inevitably there were many Wildcat chants initiated throughout his set. George Garcia played an amazing set as well and it was such a great way to end the night before the afterparty.
For the people who wanted to get extra Grimey and keep the festivities going, the official after party with Party Favor was at 191 Toole. This year’s N9ne Fest exceeded our expectations, and we have Relentless Beats to thank for that! Until next time, Gatsby fans, take care!
