Spruce Creek Loop- Breckenridge
Getting lost in the great outdoors with some of your closest friends will never seem to get old, especially when you have the Rockies in your backyard. With a few days off, we came up with the game plan, loaded up the car and headed toward the hills for some good old fashion chaos. Listening to a killer playlist, watching the trees start to change color, to the lightly snow covered tips really showed how amazing the state of Colorado really is. Even our dogs can’t get enough mountain adventures under their collars.
We decided that we were going to backpack Spruce Creek Loop that is about 4 miles into the woods outside of Breckenridge to a few glacier lakes and waterfalls. The trailhead felt like we were a world away from society, when in fact, we were only about 5 miles south of Breckenridge. After a few hours of trekking up the trail we finally spotted our perfect view for our overnight setup. Camping above 9,000 feet is an interesting experience; storms come out of nowhere and the mountain goats love fucking with your campsite while you’re trying to sleep. After we woke up after a sleepless night full of grunts and heavy winds, we trekked another mile and a half to the upper lakes for a view that will reassess your life. After 2 days of no cell service and eating dehydrated meals, we were in need of a greasy burger to get us back to the real world.
