Global Dance Festival Arizona 2016
“THE MUSTACHE RETURNS!” What a crazy night it was as we saddled up for Arizona’s Wild West Edition of the Global Dance Festival that was held on November 19th.
This years lineup included BASSNECTAR, Galantis, Alison Wonderland, Arius, Cheat Codes, Datsik, Herobust Lee Foss, Louis The Child, Mat Zo, Valentino Khan, Golf Clap, Jack LNDN, Joyryde, & Louis Futon. The only major problem that we seemed to have was that we couldn’t be in three places at once! There were three separate stages titled Bandit Canyon, Tombstone, and The Hideout. Each one was unique and massive! However, at times, some areas were so packed that security restricted people from moving from one stage to another because of congested areas. Even with our media passes, sometimes we couldn’t get through! As expected, fans were briefly upset, but were soon let through once things settled. There’s nothing like some heavy bass to calm and distract the fans.
When we weren’t feeling like cattle, herding from one stage to another, there were various things to distract us. There were random attractions, vendor stands and different areas for us to shop through. It was unique to find a mechanical bull in the bar and a rock climbing wall set up at a music festival! It’s nice that that there were other attractions to keep fans busy in between sets. Personally, we kept finding ourselves going back to the candy store again and again!
There were also some intricately made totems that were memorable, like one that said, “Valentino Khan+Bass=Love” and, “DEEP.DOWN.LOW”. After the show, we overheard some fans saying how they could already feel the burn from headbanging too hard. Another memorable moment was when Herobust did their own Mannequin challenge with the crowd! In case you missed it, there is a awesome video clip on the Facebook page from ‘Global Dance Festival Arizona’. One rave kitty as she labeled herself, said that Bassnectar blew her mind! Another bass head recently posted how she, “danced until her muscles went numb.” One fan was starstruck as he saw Arius walking around in the crowd taking pictures with fans. It is great to see artists interacting with the audience and ultimately showing some love back.
This was an early Christmas gift for us, and what a treat it was! Global Dance Festival really stepped it up this year and boy did it get rowdy! The event felt more like experiencing an adventure instead of just attending a concert. We made so many memories and made new unforgettable friends. Everyone left with huge smiles beaming on their faces. If you weren’t there you truly missed out. Until next time, stay grimey
